"Music IQ" gets attached to two completely different things. One is a trivia quiz — name the band, finish the lyric, guess the year — which measures how much music you have been exposed to. The other is a perception test, which measures how much detail your ear resolves when sound actually arrives. MusIQ is the second kind, and the difference is not cosmetic: the first tells you about your listening history, the second tells you about your hearing.
Which means there is nothing to revise for. The test never asks you to name a note, identify an interval, read notation, or recognise a piece of music. It plays you sound and asks what you heard. People who have never had a lesson score well on it regularly, and trained musicians routinely discover one dimension they are weaker on than they assumed. Musical ability is not one skill, so a single number is only worth anything if you can see what went into it. MusIQ isolates five perceptual abilities and scores each out of 20.

Every section is worth 20 points and your final music IQ score is the plain sum of the five, capped at 100. Nothing is weighted, nothing is secretly adjusted, and no section counts for more than another. A 72 means you collected 72 points across five independent tests of hearing, and the breakdown you get at the end shows exactly which ones.
Because sections are scored independently, the shape of your result matters more than the total. A 60 built from five even scores describes a different listener than a 60 built from a perfect pitch section and a collapsed rhythm section. The second person has a specific, fixable weakness. Honestly: the total on its own is close to meaningless without a comparison, which is why the test gives you a live percentile against every score ever recorded rather than a grade. Scoring 55 sounds mediocre until you find out where 55 actually sits.
A few things are worth knowing before you read too much into a number. Perfect scores are not really achievable — the pitch section ends at 4-cent differences, which almost nobody calls reliably, and the tempo section is deliberately unforgiving. A low score in one section is far more often a broken setup than a broken ear (see below). And the test is repeatable: it is not a fixed quiz, so the tones, melodies and rhythms differ each time. No. The test is deliberately non-cultural: it never asks for note names, intervals, notation, or familiarity with Western harmony beyond "some notes sound higher than others." Training helps on some sections, but plenty of untrained listeners outperform trained ones.
Almost certainly not. Genuine congenital amusia affects something like 4% of people, and it is a specific pitch-processing deficit — not the same as an untrained singing voice, which is what nearly everyone actually means by "tone deaf." No, and the name is a loose metaphor rather than a claim. MusIQ is not normed to a mean of 100 with a standard deviation of 15, it does not predict general cognitive ability, and it is not a substitute for any clinical or psychometric instrument. It is a score out of 100 on five specific listening tasks, plus a percentile against other people who took the same tasks. Yes, and you should. The stimuli are generated fresh each run, so retaking is not memorisation. Most people improve on their second attempt purely by understanding the task better, which is worth knowing before you treat your first score as a verdict.
Bluetooth latency. Two of the five sections score you in milliseconds, and wireless audio delays sound by a variable amount that swamps the thing being measured. It is the single most common cause of a score that does not reflect the person.
No, and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise. It is not a clinical assessment, it has not been normed against a research population, and it is not a diagnostic tool. What it is: five perception tasks built along the same lines as established musical aptitude batteries, run under the same conditions for everyone, so your result is genuinely comparable to other people's.
